Messengers of Love Home Building Programs
Messengers of Love members from Vietnam oversee home building projects with funding supported by MoL USA. Families receiving new homes often are poor, destitute or lepers without a place to live or whose home can barely keep out the elements nor give them safe shelters.
This past year, MoL joined force Fr. Sang Nguyen from My Tho to help build 3 houses in the villages. Part of the fund raised at Marian Festival selling gospel CDs went to support this project.
MoL also worked with Fr. Nghiem from Phu Loc, Hue to build new homes for 4 families whose homes were run down or destroyed by the deadly flood. The home building project is a very worthwhile project, since it take little funding to be able to build a new 2 bedroom brick house for a family. $1200 can provide safe shelter for one family. And the life of the people who receives the new home are forever changed. They are extremely grateful to MoL for giving them a gift that they would never dream of receiving.
Messengers of Love Clean Water System Program
The people in Gai Lai were mostly ethnic minorities. There are several lepers who are forced to live isolate from the main village in run down huts. In the summer months, they do not have enough water from the stream to use, thus required to travel a long way on a muddy dirt road toward the mountain to get water. MoL is able to build a clean water system for the village of 200 families through The Dominican sisters of Rosa Lima who serve their communities. It was a great opportunity for MoL members to show the spirit of love to the community in time of need, just like what we did in helping poor families who are homeless to build them a home. We are sure our support meant a lot to these families, as shown in their faces as they said goodbye to the volunteers.
Messengers of Love School Lunch for Poor kids Program
At Phu Loc, Thua Thien, there are several families in the village who work in the rice field. They send their children to the local kintergarden school. MOL helps the parents by subsidizing the children’s lunch so they can stay at school for the entire day. We currently provide daily lunch food for 76 kids in 6 kintergarden classrooms.
Messengers of Love Sponsor an Orphan Program
Most orphans in orphanage are mal-nourished due to lack of fundings. Since 2004, MOL had been providing monthly food/milk/tuition to 77 orphaned children from 3 smaller sized orphanages. We do this through the help of sponsorship and adoption. Some of these children are now grown and had gone on to colleges.
